To participate in 2004 Golf Association Tournaments, you must sign up for a 2004 USGA Handicap through Gambler Ridge Golf Club.  This automatically gains you entry into the Gambler Ridge Golf Association.  The cost for the year long Handicap Service is $25.

Your handicap will be an official one through the United States Golf Association GHIN (Golf Handicap Information Network).  You are required to post and adjust your scores according to the USGA's ESC (Equitable Stroke Control). The posted scores are electronically transmitted via computer to the USGA periodically so that your handicap can be updated (a schedule of the mailing dates and handicap revision dates will be posted next to the score posting sheets). New members will not be given a handicap until 5 scores have been posted, last years scores are acceptable provided they were played in season. All Participants in the Saturday events must have an established handicap to sign up for any Golf Assoc. events.

You will receive an official USGA Handicap Card with a peel-off sticker, which has your name, posted scores, I.D. Number, and two handicap numbers. The handicap number listed next to HOME COURSE HANDICAP is the handicap you use whenever you play at Gambler Ridge.  The number listed next to the words HCP INDEX represents your traveling handicap.  When you play a golf course other than Gambler Ridge, your handicap might have to be adjusted in case the golf course is either more difficult or easier than Gambler Ridge (as determined by the USGA).  When you arrive at the course, all you have to do is ask them for their SLOPE CHART.  With the chart you can find where your index number falls (it will always be a number with a decimal as opposed to your home course handicap which is always a whole number) and read across the sheet to find out what your handicap should be for that day at that course. The higher the slope rating the more difficult the golf course will be (national average is 113).

Golf Association tournaments are conducted throughout the year culminating in the Club Championship where the winner from each flight will receive 7 FREE GREENS FEES FOR 2004.

Entry fee for each event excluding the Club Championship is $10 payable when signing up.  Please be aware that if you have signed up for an event you will be expected to show up.  All players who do not show up for an event they have signed up for will forfeit their event fee and will not be allowed in the following 2 events championship included.  The club championship entry fee will be $25 and this will include a Buffet after the qualifying round for the championship.  Please be aware that the championship for those that advance will be up to 5 Saturdays, anyone unable to make a match will have to forfeit.

Information about upcoming events will be posted throughout the Clubhouse and the website.  If you have any questions about the Golf Association or the Handicap Service, please do not hesitate to ask.  We are more than happy to help you.

A copy of the 2004 schedule is on the back of this sheet and is permanently posted on the bulletin board in the Clubhouse.
