GRGA Rules

  1. You must have a USGA handicap to participate in the competitive event and to be eligible for prizes.

  2. The USGA Rules of Golf govern all play. Do not touch your ball anywhere on the golf course except on the tee and on the green unless you are taking a penalty or free drop or unless the local rules for the day permit otherwise.

  3. We believe there will be times when there will be gimme putts.  The local rule is Gimmie Putts have to be given by an opponent and not taken by the golfer trying to hole out a putt.  If taken by a golfer, opponents can challenge and on Medal play, penalty if disqualification, in Match play, loss of hole.

  4. Lost Ball and Out of Bounds Local Rule:  You should always play a provisional ball if you think your ball went out of bounds or if there is a chance you may not find it.  In the event you do not play a provisional ball and you can not find your ball or if you ball was found out of bounds - a drop can be taken from the spot where you think you ball was lost or went out of bounds with a
2 STROKE PENALTY.  This rule is to speed up play.  If the group behind you is not ready to hit their shots, the proper way is to re-hit your ball from the original spot with a 1 stroke penalty - Stroke & Distance.

  5. Drop Areas: Hole 3 front right of green, Hole-11, front of green to the right.  This drop area can be used  if you land on the cart path and have no “Clear point for dropping – no closer to the hole”  This will be a “Local” rule.

  6. Tournament scoring is done only on official GRGA scorecards which will be handed out at the Pro Shop desk prior to each event.

  7. Once your scores have been signed and turned in they cannot be changed.

  8. When playing in two man team or individual format event you must keep track of your opponents scores.

  9. You must play READY golf.

  10. Players must maintain pace with groups ahead of them or meet predetermined pace standards.  Failure to do so may result in penalties, disqualifications and / or late starts at future events.

  11. In the event of a tie the following tie-breaking procedures apply - scorecards of both teams and players will be used.  Ties will be broken by matching cards. Back nine/last six / last three/last hole method will be used to break ties.

  12. Handicaps will be applied for events as follows: Individual events at 100%, Two Man Teams events at  90%, and Four Man Teams at 80%, unless otherwise noted in the event format.

  13. A member of the GRGA Committee will post all tournament scores in the GHIN system as a Tournament score.
Please indicate your score on with appropriate Equitable Stroke Control applied, per USGA Rules on Equitable Stroke Control.

PLAYING WITHOUT A TEAMMATE:  We never want to discourage anyone from attending any of our tournaments; therefore, when you have no teammates playing in an event and cannot find a guest we will pair you with a player from another team.

PLAYING WITH GUESTS:  All invited guests with a USGA handicap will be eligible to participate in GRGA events and prizes after the appropriate guest fee has been paid.
